RMG TURBINE GAS METER Q & QIC
The X turbine meter is based on the well-tested SM-RI principle and features the proprietary X4X® flow packaging. In functional, non-ideal installations, its superior characteristics are preserved. A standard X meter is accepted for all non-corrosive gasses, such as natural gas, propane, butane, air, methane, ethylene, hydrogen, etc., under the EEC Guidelines and several other international approvals. For use of corrosive gases, special systems may be supplied. For custody transition of natural gas, X turbine meters are commonly used. The fluxing gas enters the meters through a built-in flow package (1) which conditions the flow profile and increases the gas velocity. This method is often used for industrial cargoes, delivery stations, large supply stations and as master reference meters. The gas is forced into the turbine rotor through the flow channel (2). The turbine rotor blade (3) has been engineered to overlap the flow of gas to provide absolute direction and the optimum energy production at low gas velocities. The angular speed of the turbine wheel is commensurate with the actual gas speed flowing through the meter. A flux ring and an expanding outlet channel allow the gas to escape the turbine rotor to reduce pressures. The turbine rotor rotation is transmitted by a gear train and transmitted by a gas-tight magnetic couplage from the pressurized meter body to the meter (5) (4). The follow-up magnet of a magnet pair pushes the counter to record volumes estimated under working conditions. The X meter measurement scale for ambient conditions fulfills European and other major international requirements and usually exceeds them.At higher operating pressures the measuring range of the turbine meters will increase since the required kinetic energy transfer to the turbine rotor occurs at lower velocities. The following equation may be used to estimate the minimum flow rate of the meter for various operating conditions.
